China Port Commodity Update:Iron Ore and Coal Inventories Rise

Iron ore shipments to China rose 5.7% in April M-M. Brazilian iron oreexports declined by 7.2% in April M-M.
Ore prices at major Chinese ports remained flat this week (down 22% Y-Y).
TSI/Platts average spot prices decreased 0.5% W-W, down 20% Y-Y.
Thermal coal inventories increased this week by 4.4% to 21.9 MT, up 37.1%Y-Y. Coke inventories rose 1.3% W-W (up almost 9% over the last fiveweeks) to 2.11 MT, up 36.9% Y-Y.
Average steel prices (HR) of Chinese manufactured steel at major ports fell0.4% W-W (down 1% over the last three) to 4,490, down 11.3% Y-Y.
Congestion at major Chinese ports remained low, up 0.6 days to 3.3 thisweek – YTD congestion has averaged 6.1 days.
Congestion at Australian Ports dropped roughly another day this weekto 8 days, above the YTD average of roughly 10.7 days.
